Personal statement
As the Head of PGR Enhancement and Development, Kirsty is responsible for delivering to a professional standard, an annually reviewed and innovative training programme, scaled to match demand to ensure that Strathclyde Postgraduate Researchers receive a premium professional development experience. Kirsty works closely with key leaders and colleagues, including the PGR student community, to oversee and embed effective student voice and representation mechanisms which lead to evidence-informed action planning and delivery of impactful outcomes to enhance the overall PGR student experience.
Kirsty has a PhD In Materials and Condensed Matter from the University of Glasgow, and is Advance HE Project Management certified.
In her spare time, Kirsty co-founded and directs "Opening up Photonics"; a platform supporting the Scottish photonics industry to discuss, challenge and address as a community, barriers faced by minority groups, with the aim of increasing accessibility, championing diversity, and ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
